A Research Associate position is currently available for an individual to work in the laboratory of Professor Alastair Poole within the School of Physiology, Pharmacology & Neuroscience. You will be joining a highly active research group investigating mechanisms of platelet activation and generation. This post will specifically address the development of a novel microfluidic system for in vitro platelet generation from iPSC-derived human megakaryocytes. The system will allow detailed understanding of the cell biology of platelet genesis, but the aim will also be scalability to generate clinical grade quantities of platelets for transfusion purposes. The work will involve a close collaboration with the group of Dr Cedric Ghevaert, University of Cambridge.
The successful candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent experience), considerable experience in microfluidics, bioengineering and cell and molecular biology. These will be supported by a proven track record in scientific publication.
