The Faculty is amongst the top twenty in the world in the built environment and home to a vibrant community of staff and students working across the fields of Architecture, Construction, Landscape Architecture, Property, Urban and Cultural Heritage, Urban Design and Urban Planning. The Faculty of Architecture Building and Planning at the University of Melbourne is seeking to make an appointment in the field of landscape architectural design. This appointment may be made at Level B (Lecturer) or Level C (Senior Lecturer).

The successful candidate will demonstrate both a proven capability and continued promise to make significant contributions to teaching, research and engagement in landscape architectural design. They should be committed to innovative and interdisciplinary thinking about contemporary landscape architectural design with a record of recognised creative, scholarly and professional work. We seek candidates who will expand the design culture within MSD and who will engage in constructive dialogue with colleagues across the campus, and with industry and the profession.

The incumbent will work with Faculty colleagues to refine and deliver academic programs, enhancing the quality and interdisciplinary design culture of the Faculty.  They will teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels, including into the Bachelor of Design and will participate in the supervision of research for higher degree students.

With this hire, the faculty is seeking to expand its capacities in contemporary landscape architectural design including innovative design practice and construction, we encourage applicants who also bring complementary disciplinary interests in the following areas:

  • Digital design technologies, including digital fabrication prototyping, fabrication and environmental simulation;
  • Environmental analysis and modelling, data acquisition and processing;
  • Materiality and construction experience; and
  • Performative design.
