  • A Lecturer in Medicine (Teaching & Research) to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, design and evaluation within the Faculty of Medicine and Health
  • Located within the Northern Clinical School on-site at the Royal North Shore Hospital
  • Continuing position, 0.4 FTE with a remuneration package of $106,000 p.a. (FTE), which includes leave loading and up to 17% superannuation

About the opportunity 

Reporting to the Head of Clinical School, Associate Professor Christopher Dennis, you will be expected to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, design and evaluation within the School/ Faculty while continuing to build your research contribution, expertise and impact by:

  • undertaking original research (either independently or as part of a team) within discipline or area of expertise
  • building and maintaining a research profile which meets University expectations and standards – including (as appropriate) publication of book chapters / peer-reviewed journal articles, producing conference / seminar papers and generating research income 
  • engaging in high-quality teaching and learning experiences (at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level) which meet the University’s expectations and standards for education

About you

  • a PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline or other higher professional qualifications appropriate to their discipline
  • a medical degree recognised in Australia
  • deep and broad experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings
  • demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
  • a developing network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders
  • experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities

The successful candidate will have demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively across a range of media and forums.

The Northern Clinical School comprises a range of clinical teaching facilities across the northern area of Sydney and beyond. The school is headquartered at the Royal North Shore Hospital, which has provided teaching to medical students for over 60 years. These headquarters have recently been relocated into a magnificent new building in the hospital grounds; the Kolling Building. The Northern Clinical School also includes a range of metropolitan, private and specialised hospitals, as well as many sites of healthcare delivery in the community, including a wide network of general practitioners.
