Postdoctoral position on industrial X-ray Computed Tomography 
(ref. BAP-2020-60)

The Mechanical Engineering Department of KU Leuven has been active in industrial Computed Tomography for many years. The lab can rely on high-power 450keV and 225keV CT machines, and has built a strong network with industrial partners as well as with research partner across Europe and beyond. Moreover, the research group collaborates intensively with other KU Leuven research groups on e.g. Additive Manufacturing, micro-manufacturing, or materials science.

Responsibilities
To strengthen the CT research group we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher. He/she is expected to develop advanced algorithms and/or perform experimental CT research on one or more of the following research topics:

  • Improving CT data processing algorithms (e.g. beam hardening correction or noise reduction algorithms)
  • Investigating and improving the performance of CT methods and algorithms
  • Establishing traceability of CT metrology
  • Expand the application range of CT within industry

The postdoctoral researcher will moreover have the opportunity to:

  • disseminate his/her results in scientific papers and at conferences
  • contribute to the initiation and management of project
  • guide PhD and/or master students
  • collaborate with the group's extensive industrial and scientific network

Profile
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and independent postdoctoral researcher with:

  • a PhD in a relevant domain
  • profound expertise in Computed Tomography
  • good communication skills (oral and written)
  • open character
