Job Purpose

What you’ll do

Working within the BPP’s Professional Development division, you will have responsibility for selling our training solutions across the corporate and public sectors. Our portfolio comprises of a range of short courses to multi-day/multi online module programmes. Whilst these link perfectly with and often accompany the rest of the BPP’s programmes, they are quite distinct from BPP’s Qualification and Apprenticeship pathways.

You will be tasked with maintaining, growing and increasing revenue across both existing and new clients around the UK. Already a skilled networker, you will be responsible for building strong relationships across all industries and sectors, helping to develop programme propositions that -  as far as possible - reflect the range of specialist courses offered by BPP and the individual requirements of its client base.

Your focus will be on developing new business - through a combination of in-bound leads and also standard and new business development techniques - and managing client relationships.

Job Background

The role sits in the Professional Development division within BPP Professional Education Limited. The Professional Development team specialise in the provision of short training courses and more complex training solutions to corporate clients. The role will need to liaise closely with the Programme Managers, Programme Support Managers, the PD operations team, marketing and the wider BPP sales teams. This person will be expected to sell all courses from BPP Professional Development’s portfolio.

This role focuses mainly on the acquisition of new clients through a combination of picking up in-bound leads and also standard and new business development techniques. This person will then be expected to maintain a relationship with those clients to ensure they continue to use BPP for further Professional Development or other services that BPP offer. This role will have a primarily B2B (in-house) focus, but where necessary, large clients who book their courses publicly may also need support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of a targeted potential client list to grow sales of our Professional Development programmes.
  • Development of a sales execution plan to sell all Professional Development solutions to reach an agreed sales target.
  • Maintenance of a pipeline of opportunities and pursuits which are actively managed to conclusion
  • Production of reports & management Information as required
  • Liaison with trainers to run courses
  • Competitor monitoring/analysis
  • Product knowledge of all Professional Development programmes courses and a working knowledge of all other BPP products

Candidate Criteria

With significant experience in selling and business development activity, you will possess the commercial acumen and interpersonal skills required to make a success of this role; experience gained within the Accountancy, Financial Services, Legal or Technology Solutions training industries would be highly advantageous.

A strong networker and effective communicator, you will be able to demonstrate a clear ability to maintain appropriate professional relationships both internally and externally and will relish the opportunity to meet with key clients in person, open up their training requirements and conduct formal presentations where necessary person and present to them.

With a strong understanding of financial information, you will also be adept at using Microsoft Access, Excel, Work and Outlook, and will be familiar with CRM systems.
