We are seeking to appoint a social or medical anthropologist with a track record of high-quality research in global health and relevant teaching experience to join the Department of Population Health Sciences at University of Bristol Medical School. This opportunity has arisen due to the secondment of Professor Helen Lambert to UKRI as Global Challenge leader for Health. It is available on 0.5FTE basis until March 2021 in the first instance. You will lead the delivery of the Anthropology and Global Health course unit on the successful iBSc.in Global Health and contribute to other undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. You will also work with multidisciplinary research teams on global health research projects, providing support and guidance in the collection and analysis of anthropological and other social science data.   

You will have a PhD in medical anthropology or a closely related field, familiarity with the global health landscape in the form of a postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience, strong methodological skills including ethnographic and interview-based research and qualitative data analysis, and ability to work with a range of health science disciplines. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to contribute effectively to the organisation and delivery of components of our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes, including supervising student dissertations. You will be expected to work independently in close collaboration with the existing post holder and provide support to research staff undertaking inter-disciplinary projects. There will be opportunities for you to develop your own research interests, write proposals and prepare publications. Interest in antimicrobial resistance or infectious disease and/or experience of working in Asia would be an advantage.
