About the opportunity 

We are seeking to appoint four Postdoctoral Research Associates who will contribute towards research in one of the school’s four research themes; production animal health and welfare, companion animal health, welfare and performance; wildlife health and conservation; and one Health.

The positions are research-focused appointments at Level A, step 6, for outstanding independent early career researchers (less than 6 years post PhD award), with a strong publication record relative to opportunity (career interruptions may be accepted but need to be detailed). These fellowships will provide a unique opportunity for you to establish your future research direction. You will be expected to design and conduct innovative research programs, publish your work in highly ranked journal and apply for competitive external research funding.

You will also be expected to provide up to 40 hours per year of undergraduate or postgraduate teaching within your area of expertise, this will involve supervising higher degree by research students. It is essential that the successful applicants strive to maintain and grow a culture of collaboration and excellence in their work, their interactions with academic and professional staff and their support and mentoring of students.

During the appointment, Associates will receive research training and development in research project management, supervision, commercialisation and intellectual property. Applicants may wish to identify a senior academic within the University of Sydney in their discipline who will mentor them and develop their project applications. Alternatively, a senior academic will be nominated for the successful applicants.
