A Research Associate position is available in the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies, University of Bristol.

The successful applicant will join a research team working on ‘Everyday Integration project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.  Everyday integration is a 24-month Project that develops a local and inclusive approach to integration in Bristol. Our approach views integration as 1) a process involving everyone, not just immigrants and minorities; 2) situated in the local contexts and practices of everyday life; and 3) as something that informs policy, rather than being informed by policy.

The Project aims to capture and encourage existing best-practices of integration whilst simultaneously attenuating remaining barriers to integration to inform policymakers and community organisations. The Project uses a mixed- methods approach in collaboration with Bristol City Council and Community Partners to develop a solid evidence-base of integration practices and barriers in Bristol. Together with those Partners we will co-produce an Integration Strategy for Bristol and an Integration Toolkit that can be used as a template for other cities across the UK.

The successful applicant will hold a PhD (either completed or close to completion) or equivalent experience in a relevant social science and have experience in in public engagement and knowledge transfer. The successful applicant will be the impact Research Associate on the project, responsible for responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering the project’s impact strategy. The role also requires liaising with all local and national Project Partners on impact activities.
