The post requires you to contribute to the academic work of the School of Art & Design. In particular you will be expected to take an active lead on the Contextual Studies modules in the BA hons Fashion programme which are delivered to both pathways. You will have experience in the academic sector with a drive to develop Contextual studies within a Fashion programme. You are likely to have proven  Fashion  Historical and Theoretical teaching experience at HE level with a background in Design History, Fashion Cultures or similar at MA level. You will be expected to teach and supervise assignments across a broad spectrum of historical and theoretical topics including the cultural significance and the business of Fashion. Your expertise is likely to be appropriate to the wide array of fashion issues which arise in both Communication and Design.

The post will focus on the delivery of lectures, seminars and tutorials in Contextual Studies to cover all aspects of contemporary, historical and theoretical issues. This role will entail working with design and communication students on written assignments, and include supervision of Level 6 Reports/Dissertations and possibly other related outputs integrated with studio practices.

You will be responsible for the organisation, delivery and assessment of elements of the BA Fashion Programme and MA Fashion Innovation and Realisation which has routes in both Design and Communication. They will also be expected to undertake significant research and scholarship in the field to keep up with current scholarship and developments in the field, and contribute to the academic life of the School, Faculty and University.

BA Fashion at Liverpool School of Art & Design is an established course with an ever-growing reputation for excellent graduates. The city of Liverpool is a vibrant place for students to study and supports the course as a hub for research and live projects. Students select between 2 pathways: Design or Communication. The Communication Pathwayfocuses on visual and creative skills across a broad range of topics from branding and trend prediction to events and public relations. Contextual studies is embedded in the Programme across both pathways. High profile collaborations and competitions are an intrinsic part of the programme alongside a wide range of placements within the fashion sector. The MA Fashion Innovation and Realisation is a platform for home and international students to realise their own ambitions in a highly creative interdisciplinary environment. The breadth of the programme encompasses both fashion design and communication leading on and diversifying to a range of disciplines within the fashion umbrella.
