FINANCIAL COORDINATOR, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory, to be responsible for coordinating financial activities and sponsored program administration for a dynamic neuroscience research center.  Responsibilities will include serving as pre- and post-award grant administrator for sponsored research accounts and fellowships, including monthly long-range planning and projections, developing and preparing budgets/proposals for submission to sponsors, prior approvals, contract/program compliance, sponsor policy and procedures, financial reports, subcontracting arrangements, and account reconciliation; serving as both pre- and post-award grant administrator for gift accounts and fellowships for areas such as the Aging Brain Initiative, Alana Down Syndrome Center at MIT, and other new prospects, including monthly long range planning and projections, developing and preparing budgets/proposals for submission to donors, prior approvals, program compliance, financial reports, and account reconciliation; maintaining faculty other support; monitoring payroll distribution, certification, and vacation tracking; authorizing procurement transactions, including credit cards, requisitions, and travel; mentoring and training financial assistants in the use of SAP, account reconciliation, and preparing forecasts and overviews; acting as a resource for support staff and faculty; and performing other duties as directed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; at least three years’ experience in accounting or finance; high-level proficiency with Excel and other MS Office products; relational database skills, preferably with Brio Query and/or Cognos; meticulous attention to detail; strong organizational, project management, analytical, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills; and ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines. 

PREFERRED:  experience with pre- and post-award administration; experience in an academic research environment with an emphasis on sponsored research; knowledge of SAP or similar accounting package; and MIT experience.  Job #18445-6
