ASSISTANT RADIATION PROTECTION PROGRAM (RPP) OFFICER, Environment, Health and Safety (EHS)-Campus Radiation Protection Team, to serve in a leadership role and provide expert radiation protection advice to support Institute academic and business objectives with due consideration of occupational health laws, federal and state regulations, and good practices. Will lead initiatives, manage staff, and provide advice on research and operations, building projects, and experiments relative to the use of all radiation sources; provide advice regarding the recognition, evaluation, and control of potential and real health hazards from exposures to ionizing radiation sources, lasers, RF and magnetic fields; interface with clients and other professionals on areas of concern and find solutions with due consideration of EHS laws, regulations and generally accepted good practices; and assist clients in finding solutions to problems.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in EHS-related discipline, engineering, physical science, or biological/chemical science; EHS expertise the includes working knowledge of regulations specific to federal, state, local, and consensus standards; specific expertise in at least some and general knowledge of most of the following--NRC, OSHA, EPA, DOT, Massachusetts’ DPH and DEP, Massachusetts’ fire prevention regulations, Massachusetts’ building code, NFPA codes, OSHA regulations, NIH and CDC guidelines, Federal Select Agent and Toxin regulations, and Cambridge municipal code; at least three years’ relevant experience in EHS programs and recognition, evaluation, and control of hazardous materials and conditions and physical agents. Evidence of leadership, ability to develop and implement well-integrated EHS programs within the workplace; effective written and oral communication skills; basic computer and database proficiency; and discretion and judgment with sensitive and confidential information/issues. Certification in EHS discipline, RBP, CBSP, CIH, CSP, CHMM, and CHP desirable. Job #18470-7
