Reporting to the Executive Director of Development in the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS), the Major Gifts Officer/Sr. Major Gifts Officer will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward individual prospects and donors (including alumni, parents, and friends) capable of making a major gift to the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Job Description
Reporting to the Executive Director of Development in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Major Gifts Officer/Sr. Major Gifts Officer will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward individual prospects and donors (including alumni, parents, and friends) capable of making a major gift to the School. This position will schedule and complete personal visits (120 each year); identify and research new prospects; develop individual cultivation and solicitation strategies for each major gift prospect; maintain personal portfolio of prospects, and prepare proposals and appropriate stewardship strategies. This position will work collaboratively with other members of the Engineering Development and Alumni Relations Office, the Engineering Dean, department chairs, faculty members, school leadership, and volunteers; will work with the Planned Giving Office to organize and promote marketing materials and schedule visits with planned giving prospects; and will plan and execute cultivation events for our Engineering alumni to more fully engage them with the Engineering School.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of experience in institutional development or related work, preferably with emphasis on major gift solicitation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; excellent verbal & written communication skills; must be an effective team worker; must hold a valid driver's license. Position involves travel and evening/weekend work.
Sr. Major Gifts Officer: same as above with a minimum of 5 years of experience in institutional development or related work.
