POSITION SUMMARY:

The Web/QA automation developer works with internal departments and constituencies throughout the University to create and maintain Drupal 7 and 8-based websites including the central University website as well as Penn Today, the Office of the President and special projects.

This position requires strong front-end and back-end development skills, including the ability to write custom modules, themes, and QA automated testing scripts.

The skills required for these development and maintenance tasks include, but are not limited to, PHP, MariaDB, JavaScript ES6+, SASS/LESS, JSON, Git, continuous integration and Unix command line, as well as knowledge of web security and responsive web design.

Communications and interpersonal skills are essential, since the web developer works closely with departmental staff and external vendors to continuously improve the university’s web presence, as well as define and document new projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related fields preferred is preferred and 3 years to 5 years of related experience is required.
  • Proven Drupal development skills, including conversion of existing websites and data migrations from Drupal 7 to 8solve problems.
  • Proficient with PHP, SASS/LESS, MariaDB, JavaScript ES6+. QA automation (functional and unit), Experience using Jira and Confluence for project tracking and documentation
  • Understanding of Git including pull requests and continuous integration
  • Must be experienced with high-profile, high-traffic websites.
