Job Description Summary

Plans and conducts basic  experiments to meet research project objectives, with close supervision. Assists in performing laboratory experiments and clinical studies for product or material formulation and development. Daily management of laboratory tool, documentations and processes to ensure regulatory compliance and timely completion of project/program deliverables.   Closely collaborates with Senior Research Specialists and Principal Investigator (PI) on experimental/clinical work set ups in accordance to established protocols.

Job Description

The Research Specialist will provide technical and logistic support for a number of translational projects ongoing in the CAROT Center.  He/She will be providing hands on support for both molecular and cellular biological study protocols, including cell culture including both adherent and suspension cells; maintain pluripotent stem cells; cellular transfection and transduction; cytogenetic and genetic analysis of cell lines; develop phenotypic assay of cultured cells; performing immunohistochemistry and tissue staining.  Duties:  Cell culture including both adherent and suspension cells; maintain inducted pluripotent stem cells; cellular transfection and transduction; cytogenetic and genetic analysis of cell lines; develop phenotypic assay of cultured cells; performing immunohistochemistry and tissue staining; preparation of cell and tissue samples for SDS-Page; protein qualification, and western blot; Molecular biology including design of DNA constructs; plasmid construction; cloning; plasmid preparations; design of oglionucleotides and primers; PCR; RT-PCR; TaqMan; use of molecular biology software including Vector NTI; bioinformatics skill including search of public databases; Good recordkeeping is essential, specialist will maintain notebooks and cross-referenced electronic data files, generate and follow study protocols and SOPs; He/she will assist in writing technical sections of reports, papers and grants and will be expected to make informal presentations at lab meetings; Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

This position is contingent on funding.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 0-1 year of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies
