Job Description
The Sr. IT Automation Engineer develops and implements automation methodologies, processes and tools, including AIOPS solutions, across the central IT organization with the goal of continuous improvement with the speed, accuracy, and quality of the delivery of IT services to our customers. This position requires the ability to collaborate across diverse IT organizations, developing and documenting an inventory of current automation processes and tools, providing a baseline for making recommendations for automation/process improvements. Assist the IT Director with the analysis, testing, recommendation, and deployment of next generation automation solutions based on IT organization process requirements. Provide support as well as comprehensive documentation on the administration of all new automation tools and processes that are deployed across the enterprise. Determine metrics for measuring the success of new automated procedures, tools and solutions. Provide management with reports detailing IT service delivery improvements as a result of the implementation of new automation processes and solutions. Administer and provide support for the current system/network monitoring and alerting tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Technical experience in IT infrastructure deployment (on-prem and cloud), process automation, and system/network monitoring is required.
- Experience with the use and administration of system/network monitoring tools such as BMC BPPM, Spectrum, Nagios and alerting/notifications such as xMatters preferred.
- Experience developing application and automated procedures using version control programs such as Git and automation/orchestration tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Docker, Puppet and Jenkins.
- Experience with the analysis, development, and deployment of process automation across complex IT enterprise environments. This includes the ability to measure improvements as well as deficiencies when new automation processes have been deployed. Experience with next generation automation (AIOPS) solutions, while not a requirement, is beneficial.
- The ability to work with multiple vendors concurrently for the analysis, testing, and recommendation of software solutions to management.
- Excellent written, verbal, and collaboration skills as well as being able to work independently, meet deadlines, and learn new technical skills.
