Job Description Summary

The Research Coordinator Senior's purpose is to facilitate cancer education, research and engagement activities that relate to increasing diversity and inclusion at the Abramson Cancer Center.

POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING

Job Description

Increasing cancer, cancer prevention and early detection and cancer clinical trial awareness and knowledge among members of the diverse communities throughout the ACC Catchment Area and patients receiving care at the ACC, in particular underserved populations; Create new and foster existing partnerships between ACC and community organizations including faith-based and non-faith based organization, community clinics, Federally Qualified Health Systems, state and local departments of health, American Cancer Society and other cancer centers and work with community members and partner organizations to refer patients and potential research participants to ACC research disease teams and clinical trial research coordinators for consideration to cancer clinical trials; Coordinate outreach, educational, screening and recruitment activities across multiple ACC research studies and disease groups within Penn and in the community; Communicate with and collaborate in the planning, and implementation of outreach, engagement and screening activities with the ACC Office of Cancer Communications, GMaP researchers, academic staff, navigators, community and other colleagues and partners; Plan, successfully launch and evaluate a cancer clinical trials ambassador program at ACC using a peer to peer educational model to increase cancer clinical trial education; Plan agenda, schedule meetings, support the work of and communicate the activities of the ACC Office of Diversity and ACC Community Advisory Board; Support the recruitment of clinical trial participants to a simultaneous study focused the financial reimbursement of cancer clinical trial expenses (the Lazarex study) Serve on and support the activities of the Cancer Committees at all hospitals of the Abramson Cancer Center (PAH, PPMC, HUP). Support activities related the ACC Cancer Center Support Grant, ACC Office of Diversity and Community Outreach and Engagement (COE).

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
