Job Description

Imaging Science Project Leader will be working closely with the DiCIPHR lab and its collaborators and will be responsible for creation and software development of diffusion MRI (dMRI) and functional MRI (fMRI) processing and connectomic pipelines by using and extending existing computational modules. The successful candidate will create new computational and statistical tools and work with postdocs and data analysts for the successful execution of the processing pipelines. They will report and communicate the image processing and analysis results to the scientific collaborators. The Imaging Science Project Leader will work with external collaborators to assist them in the interpretation of the reported results. They will prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and will attend meetings and conferences as needed. They will support post-doc researchers by assisting in the conversion of prototype software in Python, Matlab, etc. to production-quality pipelines, that could be used within the lab, and also distributed.

The position requires a Bachelors’ degree, preferably in statistics, mathematics, computer science or a comparable discipline with a strong background in computational methods and statistics, and 8 or more years hands-on experience conducting diffusion and functional image analysis, connectomics, bioinformatics, data mining, pattern analysis, and statistical analysis research. Four or more year's professional experience in connectomics and dMRI is essential.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelors’ Degree in Mathematics, Statistics/Biostatistics, Computer Science/Informatics, or related imaging science field, and required experience 2-3 years (preferred 8 years of experience) or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Strong computational skills (Python, Dipy, Matlab, statistical analysis packages, advanced shell scripting, high level of experience in Unix platform), proficiency in FSL and fiber tracking software, and strong problem solving, and organizational skills are a must.
  • Experience in creating and using advanced multi-site statistical and diffusion MRI analysis packages. Scientific knowledge of dMRI is required, in addition to programming knowledge.
  • Strong publication record demonstrating deep and broad knowledge of the area of brain image analysis is required, both in terms of methodology development and application to clinical studies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams and experience in leading teams.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills are needed to support multiple projects
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all HIPAA-related Personal Health Information (PHI) at all times is essential, and knowledge of image retrieval from clinical systems like PACS
  • Must be able to exercise initiative and judgment in setting priorities and working independently.

“The job pay range encompasses the full range of employees from new hires to the salaries of Penn employees with many years of experience and seniority and is not a precise indicator of salaries of new hires when looking at the top end. Based on what we pay employees coming into this position our pay range is $55,000-100,000 based on education and experience above the minimum qualifications."
