Hours: 36 hours per week over a shift (see detailed shift pattern Description in the Job Description).
Annual Leave: 23 days per annum, plus University Closure Days and Bank Holidays.

St Mary’s University, Twickenham, are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Person to join our dedicated and busy team. The post holder will be responsible for undertaking both daily waste and recycling and grounds and gardening tasks. The combined roles operates on a shift pattern alongside other staff to ensure full service undertaking waste and recycling collection and disposal duties at St Mary’s University whilst also providing additional service with the grounds and gardens maintenance function. The shift pattern will give approximately a 50/50 split between roles and associated tasks.

Waste and Recycling duties will include carrying out a waste collection service, pushing and maneuvering large wheeled bins on and off a trailer or into position within a waste compound, emptying litter and cigarette bins, operation of waste and recyclable material compaction or baling equipment and general campus care duties to maintain clean and tidy external spaces and street furniture.

Grounds and Gardens duties will include mowing, hedge cutting, strimming and leaf clearance as well as other tasks associated with grounds maintenance and the care and preparation of sports pitches and amenity space.

We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, is well organised and able to work well on their own and as part of a team. You will have a full driving license and previous experience undertaking waste management duties and grounds and gardening maintenance tasks is desirable, however training will be provided.

You will also be expected to work flexibly, including working some weekends, (please refer to the sample shift pattern available on request), in order to meet the needs of the service.
