The University is now inviting applications and nominations for the post of Vice President (Education).  This appointment will be made on either a substantive basis or a concurrent basis for a fixed term.  Reporting to the Deputy President and Provost, the appointee will be a member of the senior management team responsible for the planning and development of teaching and learning initiatives of the University.

Job Functions

The appointee will be required to:

(a) play a key role in formulating and implementing Planning Exercise Proposals in alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan;

(b) lead the development and enhancement of academic programmes, including curriculum and pedagogical development, and related academic supportive functions of the University;  

(c) develop and execute institutional policies and plans for academic quality assurance and for the pursuit of educational excellence;  

(d) oversee the operation of some non-academic units of the University as designated; and  

(e) perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Deputy President and Provost or his delegate.  

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have outstanding academic qualifications at Chair Professor level with evidence of eminent scholarship;

(b) have demonstrated capability and track records in academic planning and development especially in matters related to teaching and learning, with solid experience acquired in a senior capacity within a world leading university setting;  

(c) be a visionary and inspiring leader with a strong drive for excellent performance;

(d) have a proven track record in driving significant changes in a university setting;  

(e) have an international outlook and a good understanding of global trends and opportunities in higher education; and  

(f) have exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with different stakeholders both internally and externally.  

Preference will be given to those with a good knowledge of the regional educational landscape.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

Terms of appointment and remuneration package are negotiable and highly competitive.
