About the team

UniAccess is UWA’s Disability Service, providing support to students with disabilities, medical or mental health conditions. UniAccess provides confidential advice and information to students who register with the service and assist with educational access through the use of assistive technologies, specialised software and alternative formats for texts. UniAccess also supports requests for alternative exam arrangements and can direct students to resources on campus to support their study. UniAccess is part of Student Success and Well-being and can advise and refer students on to other services that can help them achieve their study goals.

About the opportunity

  • As part of the team, provide UniAccess services to individual students through 1:1 case management and general support counselling.
  • Provide consultancy advice to the University on strategic and policy issues that impact on physical and educational access.
  • Plan implement and manage a range of administrative functions that govern the personnel, financial and student management activities of the UniAccess Office.
  • Analyse and review operations to ensure UniAccess goals and objectives align with UWA policy, State and Commonwealth legislation.
  • Actively foster, and take a leadership role in, the development and maintenance of networks to support disability initiatives at local, state and national level.
  • Advocate for students with disability or medical conditions where necessary.

About you

You will be passionate about equity and access to education and comfortable consulting with clients from diverse backgrounds.Experience providing support services to students with disabilities, including 1:1 support would be advantageous. A background in a health or disability field such as Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Social work or Psychology would be highly regarded.
