De Montfort University, Leicester

Role: Director of the International Office

Remuneration: Competitive

Location: Leicester

De Montfort University (DMU) is an ambitious, globally minded and culturally rich university with a strong commitment to the public good. It strives to maintain a stimulating and inclusive environment that champions difference and celebrates success. Awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework, the university is a vibrant, multicultural hub of learning, creativity and innovation that was recently named the first-ever University of the Year for Social Inclusion by The Times Good University Guide 2019.

The university is seeking a Director of the International Office. International impact is at the heart of the university’s vision and has seen DMU secure one of the largest increases in overseas students of any UK university. Operating as a key member of the university’s leadership team, the Director of the International Office will be responsible for building on this success in delivering an ambitious and sector-leading overseas recruitment strategy. As we approach the university’s 150th anniversary – an incredible milestone in our proud and diverse history, this is an exciting time to join DMU.

The Director of the International Office will be responsible for driving international student number growth on behalf of DMU and for delivering agreed income targets in line with clearly defined KPIs. The Director will play a key senior management role, directing and leading a team of regional sales managers across all DMU target markets, and a Leicester-based operations team. The Director will lead the development and implementation of the overall international recruitment strategy and sales plans, and will maintain oversight of the university’s overseas offices, such as China, India and the EU.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in leading commercially focused overseas recruitment teams (including in-country operations), a track record of delivery against targets, and a proven ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. A strategic thinker, with a high degree of integrity and excellent judgement, they will also have a genuine commitment to the mission and ethos of the university
