Description

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Chicago seeks a qualified Lecturer to teach courses both in our Introductory General Chemistry sequence as well as Physical Sciences Core program. This position will be a 12-month appointment with teaching responsibilities for the fall, winter, and spring quarters. Teaching responsibilities will include up to 3 classes with a combination of Physical Science Core courses and General Chemistry.  The position also includes lab development and management for all Chemistry Physical Science laboratory experiments.

Applicants will be evaluated on their teaching skills and command of specific course content and must have teaching experience at an accredited university or college. Experience teaching General Chemistry is required, and experience in collaborative teaching techniques is important.

The position will be part of the Service Employees International Union as a Lecturer 3. The relationship between the lecturers and the university is governed in part through a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field.
