Job description
It's an exciting time to join the Information Services at Edinburgh Napier University
Opportunities have arisen to join our Information Services department as an Application Developer. This is a time where real change is being implemented throughout the department with a push towards a DevOps culture. The role
The Applications Systems Groups (ASG) is one line of service with the development capability in IS with responsibility for business and academic systems development and maintenance.
You will develop, test and implement changes that deliver business improvements to meet the needs of our users. This will include making changes to code or system configuration, writing test plans and scripts, test execution and release management.
You will upskill front-line service teams to ensure they can deliver first line support for the majority of incidents and provide second-line support for any escalated issues.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for people with technical expertise who have a collaborative workstyle, ensuring knowledge transfer throughout the department so we deliver the best support and systems for our colleagues, Schools and Students.
You will be able to initiate and maintain a network of relationships and work proactively with multiple stakeholders within our schools and professional service departments, making key recommendations and providing appropriate help and advice.
Applicants must have:
- Experience of delivering the full application development life-cycle
- Proven experience in application development using SQL databases and SQL query languages
- Degree or equivalent in a related IT field or extensive relevant experience in a comparable role
Desirable in applicants is experience with any of a range of Application Packages from, but not exclusively:

- XN Leisure
- Kinetic Housing Management
- Planon
- Agresso
- Scientia Syllabus Plus
- Salesforce
