Associate Director, Inclusion and Diversity Education Office

The Inclusion and Diversity Education Office seeks an Associate Director to further the inclusion, belonging, and intergroup relations programs and trainings.  The Inclusion and Diversity Education Office provides campus leadership for students, faculty and staff to consciously and actively affirm intersectional identities and foster intergroup relationships. Through research, forums, classes and workshops, we build student capacity and confidence to experience a sense of belonging and develop authentic connections with people from different backgrounds. This position will report to the Managing Director of the Inclusion and Diversity Education Office. 

Your Responsibilities: 

You will work with a range of university collaborators to develop and implement new training modules that enhance the capacity of the campus to engage in thoughtful interactions around issues of inclusion, intersectionality, and identity. Specifically, the Associate Director designs, delivers, manages, and evaluates inclusion, belonging, and intergroup relations programs while training students and staff to facilitate activities on these topics. 

The Associate Director also administers, implements, and interprets university and department policies and procedures on issues regarding diversity, inclusion, belonging, and equity, while identifying, clarifying, and resolving highly visible or complex issues with substantial significance and impact that may span multiple areas, using advanced technical and professional knowledge requiring independent judgment.

Each day will bring a new set of exciting challenges, as you:

  • Manage a portfolio of the Inclusion and Diversity Education Office programs, including program development, project management, implementation, evaluation, data tracking, reporting, and recommendations for continuous improvement and future program innovations.
  • Direct the work of staff members, training them on various frameworks and student management best practices.
  • Design and facilitate a range of inclusion workshops, activities, and training for students, staff and faculty in residences, staff offices, and academic settings.
  • Train students and staff to facilitate inclusion workshops and activities.
  • Evaluate and report on program outcomes.
  • Develop curriculum and programming using diversity and inclusion frameworks.
  • Provide direct advice to students on diversity and inclusion issues in regards to community standards and practices.
  • Engage students with advanced technical and professional knowledge of Intergroup Dialogue practices, conflict navigation, and cultural counseling to address intergroup conflict.
  • Develop report requirements, portals, and staff/student/faculty facing communications.
  • Manage outreach programs, relationships with external community and university liaisons.
  • Develop and manage program budgets.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience including advanced experience developing and implementing training curricula related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and significant experience with Intergroup Dialogue and training trainers in the art of facilitating identity conversations
  • Demonstrated experience successfully working with a broad spectrum of people – staff, faculty, students, etc.
  • Advanced presentation and communication skills to clearly and effectively provide information to diverse internal and external audiences, client groups and all levels of management

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
  • Advanced project management, analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of financial transactions
  • Ability to learn and ensure compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations
