Department of Sociology

The Department is seeking an aspiring early-career scholar who can contribute to the Department’s research strengths in “Gender, Family, and Life Course” and/or “Social Networks and Inequalities”. He/She is expected to:

i) conduct high-impact research;
ii) obtain competitive research grants;
iii) teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and
iv) contribute to student advising and internship supervision.

Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: family, aging, gender, health and social networks.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Sociology at the time of appointment;
  • an active research program or agenda;
  • proven track record in high quality research;
  • ability to conduct quantitative research and interdisciplinary research is a plus;
  • demonstrable commitment to excellence in teaching; and
  • willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues in a collegial working environment.

This is a tenure-track appointment. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to three years commencing September 2020 or earlier. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
