SENIOR LECTURER (HSRU)

The Health Services Research Unit has an exciting opportunity for an outstanding individual to join an internationally renowned research unit. HSRU is core funded by the Chief Scientist Office (CSO) of the Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorate as a national centre for health services research relevant to the NHS in Scotland. The Unit has grown since it was first established in 1988, into one of the premier groups of its kind in the UK with a reputation for its substantial programme of high quality research. The Unit, together with the Health Economics Research Unit (HERU), was awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2018 for sustained excellence in health services research.
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding senior lecturer to join the Health Services Research Unit (www.abdn.ac.uk/hsru), University of Aberdeen. The post holder will be expected to have an established track in any health services research or associated discipline, ideally with research experience in applied health data analytics or trials methodology research. The post holder will be working in a multidisciplinary environment and is expected to embrace a range of theories and methods to advance the field of study.
The post holder will be expected to lead a theme of research associated with the current research portfolio (see University section below for more details) and to support and deliver our curricular ambitions by contributing to postgraduate teaching. Senior staff within HSRU would be expected to have line management responsibilities for staff and to provide leadership and executive duties. Senior HSRU staff also play important roles in the Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS) research themes and administrative duties (http://www.abdn.ac.uk/iahs/index.php) as well as taking on roles across the university (e.g. Membership of Senate).
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 8 salary scale (£51,630 - £58,089 per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
