We are looking for a proven leader who engenders collaborative functioning across all levels of professional and academic staff and, who is passionate about mentoring the future minds of those advancing animal and human wellbeing through veterinary education and research for Aotearoa New Zealand and the world.

In this role, the successful candidate will spend approximately 50% of their time providing internal medicine services to the clients of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). Our Internal Medicine team includes the existing 2 FTE of board-certified internal medicine specialist, one specialist in clinical nutrition, and residents in our ACVIM SAIM program. Additional support is provided by dedicated technical staff, and rotating small animal interns.

The Massey VTH is the largest multispecialty veterinary hospital in New Zealand, our hospital facilities include:

• flexible and rigid endoscopy, digital radiology and ultrasound, fluoroscopy and in-house 16-slice CT. MRI examinations are regularly performed at a nearby human imaging practice
• the hospital maintains a full suite of in-house diagnostic laboratory equipment including blood gas analysis
• the building is shared with NZVP, and a full-service reference laboratory owned and operated by IDEXX
• patient care is provided 24/7 by a dedicated team of ER veterinarians and technicians, backed up by 2 board-certified criticalists.

Additional clinical services within the hospital are provided by a group of three board-certified surgeons, dedicated anesthesia staff, and visiting dermatology, ophthalmology, dentistry and cardiology services.

Palmerston North is a family-friendly, eminently bikeable, compact city of approximately 88,700 people and is centrally located on the north island of New Zealand https://www.manawatunz.co.nz/live-work/ There is easy access to outdoor activities such as hiking, outstanding road and mountain biking, golf by cable car and surfing.
