Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in the Chinese Language Enhancement Programme (CLEP) of the School of Chinese (Ref.: 499239), to commence on September 1, 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal. 

One of the primary missions of the CLEP is to equip students with the necessary Chinese language skills for academic and professional pursuits. Tailor-made, discipline-specific practical Chinese language courses are offered to the undergraduates in all Faculties across the University. Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, a postgraduate degree in Chinese or related areas and at least 5 years’ post-qualification teaching experience at tertiary level. The ability to conduct practical Chinese courses and proficiency in Putonghua are required. A high level of competence in written English is a definite advantage. The appointee should demonstrate a strong sense of commitment, a track record of excellence in teaching, a capacity to design and deliver courses as well as sophisticated communication and presentation skills. Apart from teaching, he/she will be expected to perform administrative duties such as courses coordination and the preparation of official documents in Chinese and English.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.
