The University of Melbourne and City of Melbourne are partners in advancing resilience and innovation strategies in the city.

The City of Melbourne Chair in Urban Resilience and Innovation has been established to provide a key point of leadership to align the resilience and innovation activities of both the City and the University. Located within the University of Melbourne Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning and working closely with the Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute, (MSSI) the Chair will work to enhance and support relevant initiatives across the City and its communities and across the full scope of the University’s faculties. She/he will play a key role in influencing and stimulating local and international public debate and policy development and implementation.

Candidates will have attained recognition as eminent authorities in their disciplines and as thought leaders in the field of urban resilience and innovation. She/he will provide vision and leadership to multi-disciplinary groups of outstanding scholars and professionals and will be able to point to a distinguished career in research, including applied research, with a demonstrated passion for the importance of urban policy and scholarship.
