Job Description

  • Plan and monitor budget for the new EngD Programme together with EngD Management Team in School of Information Systems (SIS).
  • Setup new EngD Programme application portal with SMU Registrar Office and assist the admin and operations of marketing the new Programme at outreach events, handle EngD enquiries, manage applications, matriculation and enrolment activities.
  • Ensure that all admin policies of the EngD programme are aligned with SMU Office of Postgraduate. Research (SMU OPGR) policies and guidelines
  • Manage EngD student matters which includes billing, student account setup, course enrolment, tracking of student progress for Empirical Research Project milestones (Research Foundation Courses) and dissertation progress, handling of student conference trips admin, managing qualify exams and etc., by working closely with EngD Management Team and respective dissertation supervisor.
  • Manage EngD programme matters such as appointment of dissertation supervisors, formation of dissertation committee, payment of thesis supervision fees and other related admin matters.
  • Work with various SMU Departments to organize and manage other EngD curriculum requirements. (e.g. Scientific Writing and Presentation, Attendance of Translational Research Seminars, etc.).
  • Work with other SIS programmes (MITB and PhD) and other SMU schools' PhD programmes for course registrations.
  • Handle the admin and logistics for EngD related seminars.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or other Engineering disciplines
  • Relevant work experience in student administration at an Institute of Higher Learning will be an added advantage.
  • Good sense of general IT trends and be IT savvy.
  • Good level of communications (both verbal and written) skills in English.
  • Superb self-learning ability, and willingness to learn.
  • Organized, meticulous and responsible.
  • Positive attitude, with a friendly and outgoing personality
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful and able to work independently is essential.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, sometimes on late evening or on some weekends
