The Engineering Technician will support research activities within the CCRC.

This position requires a technician with experience of working in a laboratory environment where health & safety is the highest priority.

The technician will be responsible for operation, maintenance and modification of experiments under the guidance of the Research Infrastructure Manager and Center Operations & Lab Safety Manager.

They will:

• Perform tasks/projects within a large-scope project, assuring quality, cost-effectiveness and timely delivery.
• Work with experimentalists and provide technical advice and assistance.
• Monitor junior staff, students and other researchers to ensure the correct and safe procedures are followed.
• Continue to develop technical expertise and knowledge through experience and application.
• Installing experiments and any relevant equipment into labs and preparing them for a variety of tests.
• Operating, maintenance and troubleshooting of new process based experiments focused around the valorization of HFO.
• Preparation of experimental activities; which includes mounting, instrumentation (sensors, actuators, etc), changing/swapping parts and performing necessary fabrication.
• Works with PI, Postdocs, Researchers and Students to accomplish organizational goals and provides ideas to improve efficiency at group level.
• Assists in preparation of reports, papers, presentations, new proposals, etc.
• Contributes to positive co-worker/customer/investigator relationships through efficient interaction on current grants/projects.  

Desirable Experience: 

• Experience of LabView  

Education: 

• Bachelor's degree or higher in an appropriate field.
