The TU Dresden, Faculty of Computer Science, Institute of Artificial Intelligence and the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS) are seeking to fill at the earliest possible date the position of a Chair (W3) of Intelligent Information Systems combined with the position of the Head of the Fraunhofer IAIS branch in Dresden in a joint appointment procedure.

At the institute's location in Dresden, the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS) works closely with established research facilities in the field of production technology on new systems of human-machine interaction and develops dialog systems for various fields of application. The Joint Center for Explainable and Efficient AI Technologies CEE-AI with the TU Dresden, the IAIS and other Fraunhofer institutes also bundle the KI competences of the Dresden region and closely interlink them with the industry in order to ensure rapid technology transfer in companies.

The future holder of this position is expected to fulfil teaching duties of 2 to 4 SWS (weekly lecturing hours per semester) in the study programs of the Faculty of Computer Science. The skills for conducting lectures in the English and German language are required. The duties include participation in academic self administration.

This position requires a person with an excellent record of academic achievements in several of the following focus areas:

  • Data analysis of structured data
  • Knowledge graphs, including Wikidata and DBpedia
  • Semantic Web and Linked Data
  • Machine Learning in the area of knowledge modelling and data analysis
  • Application fields of structured data, e.g., in the area of geo-spatial modelling

Excellent international publications, an outstanding publication performance, and collaboration with industry are of particular importance. Perennial experience in heading large research groups, competencies in successful application for third-party funds, and experience in heading and conducting collaborative research projects are necessary prerequisites. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG). A habilitation or equivalent qualifications are required.
