Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Antimicrobial Resistance and Microbiome in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 499214), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in epidemiology, biological sciences, microbiology, veterinary sciences, or a field relevant to the study of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and microbiome. They should have a track record of high quality research in AMR and microbiome; significant experience in setting up and managing a microbiology/bacteriology research laboratory; demonstrated leadership in building and managing international collaborative projects; and competence in mentoring early career researchers and research students. Experience in working with multiple investigators in a large-scale cohort study and in multidisciplinary programmes will be highly favourable.
The appointee will play a major role in implementing an interdisciplinary research programme on AMR and microbiome. He/She will conduct and lead research in the field of AMR and microbiome; write scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; participate in the planning and delivery of undergraduate/postgraduate programmes; mentor junior research staff, visiting fellows and students; and contribute to administrative, operational and other duties as assigned.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
