Job Details

Working in a clinical translational research laboratory as a lead scientist for the evaluation and introduction of nanopore technology into service for rapid diagnosis of infectious diseases.

Working as part of a team comprising post-doctoral fellows, scientific and clinical PIs, biomedical and clinical scientists, research nurses and external collaborators, particularly at Public Health England and University of East Anglia. 

Specifically, to pick up various on-going translational research projects evaluating use of nanopore technology for 16S rRNA sequencing, targeted influenza sequencing and shot-gun metagenomic analysis, particularly directed at respiratory samples from acutely unwell patients in the intensive care unit. The precise projects and roles will be agreed with the candidate during and after interview.

The candidate will be expected to already have good experience and understanding of nanopore technology, both the wet-laboratory work and development of bioinformatics pipelines. 

A track record of trouble shooting and addressing complex challenges at the forefront of nanopore technology development during its transfer into clinical service

This post is a fixed term contract ending 31st March 2022.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.
