The Department of Science, Math, and Technology (SMT) is one of five departments within University College. Through its innovative general education common core curriculum, University College offers students a high-quality, foundational, liberal-arts program, designed to prepare them for their future majors and professional careers. The General Education experience instills in the students a desire for lifelong learning, fosters intellectual curiosity, and engenders critical thinking. SMT courses emphasize quantitative reasoning and comprehensive use of information technologies in order to develop students’ scientific, numeric and technological literacy. In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty are expected to have a consistent pace of engagement with their discipline/profession and to become active members of the University and College community.
The Department of Science, Math, and Technology invites applications for faculty to teach introductory science courses in Environment and Health on both the Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses, with appointments starting in August 2020. We seek faculty who possess a strong commitment to teaching the University’s core curriculum and are ardent advocates of general education as understood in the US model of education.
Candidates will be familiar with a quantitative reasoning-based curriculum and will value teaching 100 level courses, including an introductory level science course; they are committed to their discipline and will stay abreast in their field. They will be inclined to contribute to an ongoing process of curricular revision and learning assessment. Teaching load at Zayed University is established at five courses per semester for instructors. - A Master’s degree in Public Health/Nutrition, Biology, or related field from an accredited university;
- A record of successful baccalaureate-level teaching;

- Ability to teach science and research methods at an introductory level;
- The ability to integrate computer technology into the curriculum;
- A demonstrated interest in promoting STEM disciplines to non-majors;

- Fluency in English is required, and the ability to work among diverse cultures is essential.
