Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap

Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top 100 universities. The University has 40 000 students and 7 600 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

The Faculty of Medicine is a part of Lund University, and is responsible for education and research within medicine and healthcare. Our academic programs are closely linked with the healthcare system and are firmly anchored in the faculty’s strong research tradition. Our research spans a broad field within experimental preclinical research, near-patient clinical research and health sciences research. The Faculty of Medicine, with its 1,800 employees and 2,700 students in Lund and Malmö, is a knowledge-intensive meeting place for students, teachers and researchers from all over the world. We are looking for a driven assistant researcher. The employment is 100% for 2 years with the desired date of admission 2020-02-01 or as agreed. A probation period may be applied.

The research group

The Chemical Biology & Therapeutics is a multidisciplinary team at Lund University and University of Gothenburg that explore new therapeutic strategies using organic/medicinal chemistry, in-vivo/in-vitro biology, and applied physics. The lab was recently awarded funding for studying in-vivo assembled therapeutics and for an Electronic Neuropharma project (e-NeuroPharma), aiming to address CNS disorders by self-assembled therapeutics. In the e-Neuropharma effort, we will develop self-organizing molecular systems that exert both pharmaceutical activity and electrical functionality to explore new therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases. e-Neuropharma is a collaboration with the organic bioelectronic team at Linköping University and Chalmers Tekniska Högskola.

Work duties

The associate researcher will essentially carry out research at Lund University. The primary focus will be analyzing self-organized therapeutics targeting CNS/PNS in animal models, preferentially in zebrafish, but also in other models e.g., insects (locust) and organoids.

Qualifications

Requirements
