The School of Physics is one of five Schools within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences at the University of Wollongong, Australia. The School provides high quality, hands-on education and research training for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Physics and Medical Radiation Physics. Fully accredited courses currently offered by the School include undergraduate with end-on Honours, Masters (coursework and research), and PhD. Our research outputs, classified within the physical sciences field of research, were recently assessed as being well above international standard, by the Australian Research Council as published in the 2018 Excellence in Research for Australia Report.
The School of Physics is looking to employ an enthusiastic person on a 2 year fixed term basis in an education focussed academic position. The successful applicant would be expected to be able to demonstrate active engagement in multidisciplinary teaching and research. Duties to be carried out by the applicant include lecturing of undergraduate physics and/or medical physics subject material at an undergraduate and postgraduate level and supervision of research students. The area of research to be undertaken will be in a field of research relevant to the School of Physics. Additional duties include liaising with relevant Faculty staff and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for student outreach activities that add value to students’ physics education and increase their awareness of the benefits of studying physics at UOW.
