School of Communication

The School of Communication of HKBU is a leading school of communication, journalism, and film studies in the Asia-Pacific region. It comprises the Academy of Film, Department of Communication Studies and Department of Journalism, offering 20 programmes at sub-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate levels to circa 2,400 students. The dynamic academic environment entails Faculty members’ interdisciplinary collaboration across multiple fields of study. Academy of Film

Acting for Screen and Media

The Academy invites applications for full-time positions in its newly launched B.A. (Hons) in Global Acting. The appointees are expected to (i) teach undergraduate courses in screen acting, stage acting, performance arts and studies; (ii) direct, develop and supervise student acting projects; (iii) develop course content based on the latest industrial practices and production workflows; (iv) contribute to curriculum revision; (v) develop industrial outreach and international performance internships; and (vi) lead a number of co-curricular activities.

Potential candidates should:

  • hold a PhD or MFA or Master’s degree in acting and performance studies or a relevant field;
  • possess relevant professional, research and teaching experiences in one or more of the following areas: voice and speech, movement acting on stage, acting on screen and with technology, acting and directing, script analysis and acting; 
  • have excellent command in English; and 
  • preferably have notable and recognised professional credits or awards.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two to three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement. 

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
