About the role

The Research Fellow (Food Systems) will join the Foodprint Melbourne team in the School of Agriculture and Food, Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences to work on the project ‘Building the climate resilience of Melbourne’s city region food system’ (funded by the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation). You will undertake research to assess the resilience of Melbourne’s food system to climate stresses and shocks (e.g. droughts, storms and floods). You will carry out literature reviews and interviews, run stakeholder workshops in collaboration with colleagues and contribute to writing reports and academic journal articles associated with the project. You will also manage the project team’s relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. 

About you

  • A PhD awarded in a relevant discipline (e.g. urban geography, environmental studies, sociology, policy).
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake research evidenced by a record of contributions in peer reviewed journals, book chapters, conference papers and presentations.
  • Demonstrated qualitative research skills e.g. conducting interviews, focus groups and/or workshops.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting literature searches and preparing literature reviews.
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively liaise with internal and external networks to foster collaborative partnerships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision as well as, collaboratively and effectively, as a member of a research team, engaging positively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • An understanding of sustainable food systems.
