Head of CPD and Consultancy -Full Time, Permanent, Grade 7

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Research and Innovation team. We are recruiting for an experienced Head of CPD and Consultancy to grow the University's Continued Professional Development (CPD) and external Consultancy income in line with the University Strategy. Based in our Merchiston campus within a beautiful, quaint and historic location, the role holder will join Research and Innovation team.

The Role

The role holder will be responsible for the development of a University-wide strategy for the growth of CPD and consultancy opportunities and income. You will provide credible leadership across the University in the area of CPD and consultancy regarding growth strategies and initiatives to build upon current capacity. You will identify areas of strength and opportunity linked to market and sectoral demand and will create aligned networks to support the University's ambition.

In addition, you will be responsible for the generation of new business relationships and the ongoing fostering and cultivation of existing business relationships between key external business clients and stakeholders and the University. Your principal aim will be to maximise income generation from engagement with business and establish long-term partnerships.

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Extensive demonstrable record of achievement in the delivery and negotiation of work-based learning and/or demand-led models in a Higher Education environment. 
  • Experience of participating in business engagement-related committees in an HEI context. 
  • Demonstrable record of achievement in developing KPI targets and growth plans for CPD or consultancy. 
  • Experience of analysing external intelligence to align market and sectoral demand to University strengths. 
  • Demonstrable record of achievement in building mutually beneficial learning partnerships between HEIs and employers/the business sector. 
  • Extensive knowledge of Scottish Government and SFC Policies and priorities in relation to the skills agenda.
