The over-arching goals of this project are to (1) design peptides that are able to selectively target specific membrane types and (2) to integrate these membrane-targeting peptides into a microfluidic diagnostic device for identifying different cell membranes.
Specifically, in the first part of the project you will build on technology developed in the lab to design and tune new peptides via rational combinatorial library approaches and screen these peptides using orthogonal high-throughput assays to identify sequences that are able to target specific microbial and mammalian cell membranes with high selectivity.
In the second part of the project you will develop microfluidic approaches to test the utility of highly membrane-selective peptides to accurately identify different microbial and mammalian cell lines rapidly.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract with funding available until 30/09/2022.
This is a full-time post.
The selection process will include a panel interview. Interviews will commence in the week commencing 16th December.
