Applications are invited for a graduate Research Assistant on a topic in the domain of self-harm and depression, funded by an NIHR Research for Patient Benefit Research Grant.  The project is entitled “Community Outpatient Psychotherapy Engagement Service for Self-Harm (COPESS): a feasibility trial”. We aim to assess the feasibility of conducting a trial of the COPESS intervention in a community setting, for people with depression who self-harm, in relation to participant recruitment and retention.

You will be involved in recruiting participants to the trial, collating baseline and interval questionnaire data, conducting semi-structured interviews, data inputting and data analysis. You would have some input into the design of the experiments and the preparation of the results for publication.  You will be based in the School of Psychology, with mentoring and supervision provided by the grant holders.

You should hold a degree in psychology or a related field. You will be used to working independently and have excellent organisation skills. Previous experience in conducting research and collecting data, within and beyond undergraduate qualifications, will be an advantage.  Excellent computer (including use of SPSS) and communication skills are essential.

Experience of handling qualitative data is desirable.  Experience of working with vulnerable adults is welcome.
