The University of Oxford is one of the leading universities in the world. It is internationally renowned for learning and teaching, and has the largest volume of world-leading research in the UK. The University has a distinctive collegiate structure which allows such an internationally celebrated institution to maintain an intimate, interdisciplinary academic community.

The Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Oxford Centre is a network and partnership between the University of Oxford, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust and CRUK. It aims to harness Oxford’s leading cancer research with the mission of facilitating collaboration to ensure rapid translation from scientific discovery to treatments for patients and increasing cancer cure rates. The Centre currently comprises over 600 members from over 25 different Departments, Units and Institutes of the University, as well as the NHS Trust, each of whom is an international leader in their field.

The University is seeking to appoint a Director of the CRUK UK Oxford Centre from summer 2020. This is an exciting opportunity to activate the rich and diverse cancer research ecosystem across both the University and the NHS Trust. As a distinguished cancer scientist and leader, you will work with colleagues with internationally distinguished reputations across numerous departments, institutes and divisions to build a consensus-driven strategic vision for cancer research at Oxford. The vision will both fast-track the application of Oxford’s outstanding fundamental research for cancer patient benefit and build a sense of identity across the community. It will capitalise on Oxford’s strengths, seize new opportunities, and identify areas where investment is needed to address barriers or respond to changes in the external environment.
