The University of Chichester is a friendly and welcoming University based in West Sussex. This role is co-located between our state-of-the-art Tech Park in Bognor Regis and our beautiful, historic Bishop Otter Campus in Chichester. Our University Strategy 'Open for Change', sets out our vision to achieve international recognition for the excellence of our teaching, research and innovation, whilst being an outstanding University with a strong external-facing focus. Our University Strategy is supported by our People Strategy 'Working together - Supporting each other', which sets out how we will support the talent and aspirations of our staff to realise our University's strategic ambitions.

Working within the Finance department, this role provides financial support to the Research and Enterprise agenda and the ERDF Business Support Project Team in an end to end process through both pre-award and post-award. The ERDF Business Support Project is a GBP 11m project funded through the European Regional Development Fund with contributions from SME businesses and other stakeholders such as local authorities.

You will work with project leads delivering the financial management of research income grants, consultancy, continuing professional development (CPD) activity and enterprise contracts. Highly effective working relationships must be established to provide a comprehensive pre-award & post-award service to the University's academic and administrative community. You will advise and guide academic applicants about costs for research and enterprise proposals and ensure all applications for external funding are appropriately costed within the sponsor's guidelines. You will lead in the provision of management information, forecasts, budgeting and external reporting / returns.

The successful post holder will have experience and knowledge of the research and enterprise and EU funding environments, returns and regulations, costing and project accounting. They will be Degree and / or CCAB qualified in the relevant subject with broad vocational experience in a similar role. A high level of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail is required to enable the management of complex funding arrangements within tight deadlines. Advanced IT skills and the ability to apply these skills to resolve complex problems is a must, together with effective influencing, communication and negotiating skills.

The University of Chichester welcomes applicants from BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) backgrounds as they are currently under represented at this level.

Informal enquiries are welcomed by Claire Price, Head of Financial Planning and Analysis via e-mail C.Price@chi.ac.uk or telephone 01243 816124.
