About the job

As our new Professor/Associate Professor of Interior Architecture , you will provide leadership in the curriculum development, teaching, research and the culture of interior architecture within the suite of architecture courses in Swinburne’s Department of Architectural and Industrial Design.

We are looking for a leader within their field developing a strong reputation for innovation, high quality teaching and research. You will have demonstrated experience as a practising architect/interior architect and bring industry connections and an understanding of industry needs that will contribute to the School’s objectives as a leading institution for architectural education, practice and research.

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out appropriate activities to maintain and develop their scholarly, research and professional expertise in order to contribute to the education of the next generation of architectural design practitioners and leaders, and to the advancement of knowledge in a rapidly evolving social, cultural and technological field. You should be comfortable working in an interdisciplinary environment and be capable of making significant internal and external links with other academic disciplines, professional organisations, industry and government. You will have a demonstrable track record in gaining competitive research income, producing high quality research outcomes and conducting research in multi-disciplinary teams.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • An earned doctoral qualification in interior architecture, architecture or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and manage curriculum and lead courses in interior architecture with outstanding graduate outcomes, and with a high degree of organizational and administrative skill.
  • A proven track record in attracting external research income through competitive grants and/or industry collaboration.
