About This Opportunity
The School of Economics is seeking to appoint a Deputy Head of School, to assist in providing leadership and management to the School. As the Deputy Head of School, you will act as an advocate within the School, supporting the implementation of School and University strategic plans. Some of the key accountabilities with this role will be:
- Collaborating with the Head of School to formulate sub-strategies for the Strategic Plan.
- Supporting the Head of School in operational management and leadership of the school.
- Contributing to the supervision, development and mentoring of staff within the school.
- Delegating duties to school staff ensuring the effective and efficient performance of the schools functions.
- Providing advice on Teaching matters such as assessment extension, re-mark cases and appeals and grievances.
- Undertaking research and teaching duties, maintaining a personal academic standing and credibility.
- Representing the School on committees, and engaging with external organisations.

Our Ideal Candidate
As the ideal candidate, you will hold a PhD in Economics with experience in leadership, strategic thinking and an organisational acumen. You will have a demonstrated ability to lead, manage and administer an academic organisation and its resources, including human, physical and financial resources.
You will have demonstrated expert knowledge in an area relevant to economics, with a personal academic standing of research and education, equivalent to a Professor or Associate Professor appointment including an established track-record of publishing in internationally excellent journals and of successfully teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

What We Can Offer
This is a full-time, fixed term position for 3 years, with a full-time continuing appointment at Academic level D or E.
An appropriate remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate, with consideration for the Academic Level of their appointment. A market loading may also be included where appropriate.
For reference, the full-time equivalent base salary at Academic Level D is in the range AUD$141,261 - $155,627, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range AUD$165,275 - $182,080. The full-time equivalent base salary at Academic Level E is AUD$181,964 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be AUD$212,897.
