We have an exciting internal opportunity to apply for a fixed term contract as a School Operations Officer based mainly at our Craiglockhart Campus. This is a maternity cover and will commence late January 2020.

This post relates to the Business and Leadership group which supports a number of areas including subject group academic support, procurement, exams administration, open days, and academic conduct.

At the heart of our University sits our School Support Service. Pertinent to both the day-to-day organisation of our Schools and our work into diverse and exciting research and projects; our School Support Service delivers flexible and resilient support to students and academic staff across the University. Simply put, through excellent customer service, we anticipate users' needs and deliver support services that are efficient, accessible and intuitive to our users.

The role

The role holder will be tasked with managing a team of school support administrators to provide various services within the School Support Service. The focus of the team is to provide efficient and proactive support to academic members of staff in order to allow those staff to better support students and enhance the student experience. The role holder will also work on individual projects, support events, and take on ad hoc tasks and general duties as appropriate, as well as working closely with other Business and Leadership School Operations Officers across the university to share best practice and enhance processes.

The ideal candidate will have prior administrative and team management experience, be a strong communicator with excellent relationship building skills, and will have demonstrable experience of managing customer relationships. The ideal candidate will also have experience of co-ordinating and managing large events, such as Open Days. Effective leadership with a flexible and supportive approach is essential.

Please note you may need to work across all three of our Campuses when required.

Who we are looking for

You will have proven management and administrative experience, preferably in Further or Higher Education, be a strong communicator with the ability to develop effective working relationships, to deliver effective support to a team, excellent organisational skills to help enhance processes and manage large events.

We are looking for someone who approaches problem solving with dynamic and innovative ideas, with a positive attitude towards change.

Experience of IT, especially spreadsheets and databases, is desirable and knowledge of SITS would be advantageous.

Benefits we offer

Salary: Grade 5- GBP 32,816 per annum
