Job Description

The Chemical & Petroleum Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking a research assistant in the area of brine desalination and CO2 capture. The research assistant should be knowledgeable or at least have an interest in acquiring knowledge of gas-liquid-solid reactions, electrocoagulation, crystallization and bubble column reactors. Candidate’s duties will include management of day-to-day activities of a research project; conduct literature review, conduct experimental work and modeling; and publish research findings in referred journals.

Minimum Qualification

  1. Master degree in Chemical Engineering
  2. Advanced and demonstrated academic writing skills
  3. Motivated and dedicated to do research
  4. Able to work independently
  5. Motivated to read and comprehend literature including new fields of research
  6. Creative and intellectually able to come up with new ideas for research

Preferred Qualification

  • Very good academic standing
  • Has applied or is planning to apply to join PhD program in Chemical Engineering at UAEU
  • Good background in dealing, setting up and operating laboratory experiments as well as analytical instruments such as ICP (Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry), SEM (Scanning electron microscope), Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, Ion chromatography, X-ray Diffraction and UV Spectrometry.
  • Good computer skills
  • Experience with CO2 capture and desalination of brine
  • Be adaptable and flexible to the continuous changes associated with research demands
