Overview:
Barts & the London is a leading medical and dental school that offers international levels of excellence in research and teaching as well as supporting clinical services for a population of ethnic diversity in East London and the Thames Gateway. The Institute for Health Sciences Education is one of six Institutes which form the faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. We are responsible for the delivery of the school’s medical degree programmes. Together with our partner hospitals and primary care practices and our innovative curriculum, students learn in a supportive environment. Our goal is to train and prepare the next generation of doctors and healthcare professionals to be the best that they can be. We aim to attract the brightest and most able students, from diverse backgrounds.
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of an established, dedicated clinical academic team in a part-time educational post in the Community-Based Medical Education Unit (CBME).
The post holder will be based in the Institute of Health Science Education, Queen Mary University of London, in Whitechapel but will need to travel to community sites as required.

The post holder must hold a medical degree, MRCGP, be GMC registered and have recent experience as a GP. We would particularly support candidates with a commitment to a career in medical education. Interest in international primary care, medical humanities and or health equity would be an advantage.
Post holders will be expected to:
- Contribute to the review and delivery of CBME clinical placements, materials and assessments and develop clinical placements in the line with our curriculum review.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of new courses or options, including teaching and supervision of medical, physician associate and international master’s students
- Show promise as a scholar, with support, through evaluation, research presentations, higher qualifications and publications
- Sustain high quality clinical placements and recruit, develop and train GP tutors and practices new to undergraduate teaching
This post is part time (0.4fte) and permanent. Starting salary will be in the range £48,082- £57,522 per annum (pro rata) inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave (pro rata), pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
