Department of Political Science

The Department of Political Science (http://www.LN.edu.hk/polsci/) is committed to preparing students for a competitive and globalized working environment. The Department combines teaching and research in the governance and public policy of Hong Kong and China, comparative politics, international politics, and Asian international relations. It contributes with the Department of Applied Psychology, the Department of Economics and the Department of Sociology and Social Policy to the integrated Social Sciences Programme in the University, having embarked on a 4-year curriculum with a disciplinary major in political science. The appointee should be able to teach “Global Environmental Politics” and/or “Environment and Society in Hong Kong”. Recent syllabuses of the existing courses can be viewed on the Departmental website. The main responsibilities of the appointee include, but not limited to, formal teaching and undertaking teaching-related activities, such as attending staff meetings, the setting of examination papers, examination invigilation and the marking of scripts.

The appointee shall engage in formal teaching for normally 5 hours per week in the Term 2 of the 2019-20 academic year and/or in the 2020-21 academic year.

General Requirements

Applicants should have a master or PhD degree in the relevant discipline and substantial relevant teaching experience.

Appointment

Commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term basis.
